FBH: "Eternal Youth" CD Release
Future Bible Heroes released their second full-length album, "Eternal Youth," on Instinct Records in August, 2002. The band's songwriters are Stephin Merritt and Christopher Ewen, with Magnetic Fields pianist/manager Claudia Gonson stepping forward as lead singer. The band will be touring in the west coast in March, and Europe in May.
"Eternal Youth" is the band' second full-length CD. Magnetic Fields member/manager Claudia Gonson steps out as main vocalist, having sung half the songs on the previous Future Bible Heroes album.
The album has sixteen songs, a combination of full songs with short instrumentals. The band is a long distance collaboration between Boston based instrumentalist Chris Ewen, who arranges and records the music, and Stephin Merritt, who writes the melodies and lyrics.

Ewen's innovative synth-based pop arrangements feature exotic, experimental sounds ranging from anklung to typewriter. Vocalist Gonson, the former drummer for The Magnetic Fields, now plays piano for the band. She has sung with previous Future Bible Heroes and Magnetic Fields projects, and also manages all of Merrittís bands and solo efforts, including Future Bible Heroes, The Magnetic Fields, The 6ths, and The Gothic Archies. This release finds her assuming all the vocals, with a singing style the NME has cryptically dubbed "the bisexual voice of the angels."
Chris Ewen, formerly of the 80's alternative rock band Figures On A Beach (Sire), has a solo project called The Hidden Variable. He composes music for advertising campaigns and is also a revered DJ at the Boston dance club Man Ray.
